Get Involved with Michiana Area Currency

There are many ways to get involved with Michiana Area Currency. Below explains how to become a member or volunteer with Michiana Area Currency. To learn more, contact us at info@michianacurrency.org.

Become a Member

Contact us if you're interested in joining the Michiana Area Currency exchange network. Once we are ready to print and launch the new currency, you'll be asked to contribute your membership fee ($20 for individuals; $10 for unemployed, low-income, students and seniors; or $50 for businesses). You will receive at least the value of your member fee in Michiana Area Currency and a listing in our online and paper directories. Businesses will get a listing in the online and paper directories and a sign to post in their store. U.S. currency membership fees will be held in reserve to insure the value of the local currency and to support the work of expanding our regional exchange network.

Volunteer

The energy and commitment of volunteers are essential to making money grow in our community!

You can help by joining one of our three working groups:

  1. Organization Building (responsible for helping us to raise funds to support the work of Michiana Community Currency, develop our contacts databases, organize FUN general membership meetings, etc.) at organization@michianacurrency.org.
  2. Public Outreach (responsible for organizing public presentations on community currency, advertising and promoting the project, producing regular newsletter, signing up individual members to participate in the community currency network, etc.) at public@michianacurrency.org.
  3. Business Outreach (responsible for coordinating efforts to sign up community businesses for the local currency network, selling advertisements in our forthcoming directory of participants in the community currency network) at business@michianacurrency.org.
